Kenny Berstein Explains NHRA Drag Racing
Kenny Bernstein is aptly named the “King of Speed” and for more than two decades was a major contributor to the continued popularity of drag racing. He is a four-time NHRA Winston Funny Car Champion and a seven-time AARWBA Auto Racing All-American. In 1992 he became the first NHRA driver to break the elusive 300 mile-per-hour barrier when he was clocked at 301.70 during qualifying for the NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville, Fla. In 1996 he won the NHRA Winston Top Fuel Championship becoming the first driver to win NHRA championships in both Top Fuel and Funny Car.
Kenny is the perfect host for this video as he demonstrates the skills and techniques that allowed him to accelerate from 0 to 100 mph in 1.1 seconds and cover a quarter mile in only 5.6 seconds. This video follows Bernstein through a typical race day culminating in a spectacular performance in the finals.
